Carol DeWitt

Dec. 11, 1942 — July 26, 2017

Carol Ann DeWitt, 74, of Gallipolis, passed away at 10:59 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in the Cartersville Medical Center, Cartersville, Georgia. Born Dec. 11, 1942, in Ashland, Kentucky, she is the daughter of the late Jasper and Marjorie Pack Wheeler.
She was a retired bookkeeper for the Gallia County Senior Citizens Center and a member of the Gallipolis Church of Christ in Christian Union.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Michele (Tracy) Sweat, of Acworth, Georgia, and Patricia (Scotty) Parker, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandsons, Wille Riffe and Devon Sweat; four sisters, Mae Irons, of Kenova, West Virginia, Ella Caskey, of Coal Grove, Sharon Sparks, of Ashland, Kentucky, and Sophie Fluty, of Morehead, Kentucky; three brothers, Robert Wheeler, Jasper Wheeler and Kenneth Wheeler, all of Ashland, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Larry E. DeWitt, who preceded her on Feb. 23, 2010.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Gallipolis Church of Christ in Christian Union with pastor Mike Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Samuel Ford

Samuel Franklin Ford, 96, of Ironton, died Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Our Lady of Bellfonte Hospital, Ashland, Kentucky. Funeral service will be noon Monday at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Ironton, with the Rev. Melvin Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
