Glendon Shope
July 1, 1937- Aug. 11, 2017

Glendon Lee “Mouse” Shope, 80, of Ironton, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at a local health care facility. The Lawrence County native was born July 1, 1937, a son of the late Andrew and Ida Sanders Shope. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Adams Shope.
Mr. Shope attended Ironton City Schools and was a former employee for Alpha Portland Cement Plant, Ironton Coke Plant and the City of Ironton. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, enjoyed taking long country rides, fishing and listening to classic country music. He was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory Lee Shope and Jeffrey Allen Shope; three sisters, Lillian Ann Shope Webb, Wanda Jean Shope Eaches, and Carol Jean Shope; and a brother, Andrew Shope Jr.
He is survived by: a son, Brian Keith Shope of Ironton; a daughter, Glynis (Donnie) Joel Shope Fields of Ironton; two brothers, Don E. Shope of Marion, and Ray Shope of Columbus; two grandchildren, Miranda Dawn Shope Spillman and Laura Ann Shope; and two great grandchildren, Aaron Spillman and Dakota Spillman.

William Carmon Sr.
July 11, 1946- Aug. 10, 2017

William Ray Carmon Sr., 71, of Oak Hill, passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born July 11, 1946, a son of the late Benjamin and Ida Mae Abrams Carmon. He was also preceded in death by his wife Roseanna DeLong Carmon, who passed away Sept. 1, 2011.
Mr. Carmon attended Rock Hill High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a truck driver for Marquette Cement Company and of the Freewill Baptist faith. He loved to fish and watch NASCAR and football.
He is survived by: three sons: William (Patricia) Carmon Jr., Michael (Tereasa) Carmon and Mark Carmon and his life partner, AJ Hall; two daughters: Penny (Pat) Cline and Roseanna Fry; five grandchildren: Charles Fry, John Hammond Jr., Seth Carmon, Teawna Carmon and Shandaysha Carmon; three great grandchildren: Mason Fry, Vincent Fry and Bailey Carmon; and his pets, Whiskers and Donald.
Private family burial was at Vernon Furnace Cemetery. Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh St., Ironton, assisted the family with the arrangements. Charles Edward Dorsey Sr., 80, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at home.
He is survived by his wife, Ella Dorsey.

John Francis, 53, of Ashland, Kentucky, died on Saturday Aug. 5, 2017, at the Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife Juliet Dixon Francis.
