Carolyn DePriest

Aug. 30, 1947 — Aug. 16, 2017

Carolyn (Lewis) DePriest, 69, of Hanging Rock, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, in Community Hospice, Ashland, Kentucky.
Mrs. DePriest was born in Ironton on Aug. 30, 1947, a daughter to the late Lawrence “Gig” and Vera (Barr) Lewis.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Roger DePriest, who passed away April 1, 2008.
Carolyn was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. She was a homemaker and attended Hanging Rock Church of the Nazarene. Carolyn loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her pride and joy grandchildren, who brought so much joy and love to her.
She was an avid Rock Hill fan, and you could always find Carolyn on the sideline rooting for her “Hill.”  She also loved her dogs and enjoyed camping, motorcycle riding, and was a part of the Bikers for Christ, Ironton Chapter.
She is survived by her beloved son and daughter, Larry (Tamara) DePriest and LeeAnn DePriest, both of Hanging Rock; her pride and joy grandchildren, Ryan (Courtney) DePriest, and Caitlin DePriest and McKenzie “Kenzie Bear” DePriest; and special great-granddaughter, Dallas DePriest. She will also be greatly missed by a host of friends and family.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Lenny Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Carl Frazer Jr.

Carl “Bub” Eugene Frazer Jr., 64, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at his mother’s residence in Ironton. The Ironton native was born Sept. 28, 1952, a son of Mary Moore Frazer Kidd and the late Carl Eugene Frazer Sr.
Carl was a 1972 graduate of Ironton High School and an industrial painter for the Loft Painting Company for 29 years, retiring in 2005. He was also in the Portsmouth Painters Union and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Donald Kidd.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Floyd Kidd; two sons, Matthew (Jamie) Frazer and Christopher Frazer, both of Ironton; a daughter, Cortney Frazer, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; two sisters, Rhonda Frazer Myers, of Texas City, Texas, and Karla Frazer (Todd) Thomas, of Santa Fe, Texas; three brothers, Eddie (Hella) Frazer, Greg Frazer and Mark (Kathy) Frazer, all of Ironton; and two stepbrothers, Edward (Ellen) Kidd and Ricky (Wanda) Kidd, all of Santa Fe, Texas.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Woodland Cemetery with the Rev. Butch Deer Jr. officiating. There will be no public visitation and Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Rosemary Mays

Rosemary Wellman Mays, 80, of Kitts Hill, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Bruce Wellman and the late Anna Roberts Wellman Steinbrecher.
Rosemary was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Edward Mays, who passed away Dec. 23, 2014.
Rosemary was a 1955 graduate of Huntington East High School and retired from the United States Postal Service of Kitts Hill, after 25 years of service. She was a member of Mamre Baptist Church for many years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Lou Daniels; and her brother, Jerry Lee Lavender.
She is survived by her three girls, Kathy (David) Christian, Lori (Randy) Mains and Debbie (Dr. Joju Variath) Horn; her three grandchildren, Lisa (Gary) Kelley, Zachary Christian and Trevor (Cassandra) Horn; five great-grandboys, Chanceler Ray Christian, Stephen Elyjah Horn, Chase David Kelley, Trevor Levi Horn and Ryder James Kelley; one great-granddaughter, Emilee Dale Horn; a special brother-in-law, Billy Mays; and special friend, Betty Gilmore, all of Kitts Hill.
Graveside services will be noon Saturday in Mamre Cemetery with her nephew, Brother Jerry Lee Lavender II officiating. There will be no public visitation and Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Evelyn Brown

Evelyn Sue Brown, 49, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at her residence. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Mike Dement officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Ridge Cemetery, Kitts Hill.
