Accused of sharing ‘inappropriate messages” with student

A second Rock Hill schools employee is under investigation by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Jeff Lawless said an investigation was launched Oct. 2 into an employee who allegedly shared “inappropriate messages” with a student on social media.

This investigation follows one that began last month, when an employee was placed on administrative leave by superintendent Wes Hairston.

The sheriff’s office and Child Protective Services were contacted after that allegation of impropriety between an employee and a student.

Lawless said the first investigation is ongoing and that the employee’s phone has been subpoenaed so that its contents could be examined.

He said once that is complete, his office would forward a report to the prosecutor’s office.
