13 area players named D5 All-Ohio

Who says 13 is an unlucky number?
A total of 13 area players were named to the Ohio high school sports writers All-Ohio Division V football team on Monday.
Fairland Dragons’ senior running back Keedrick Cunningham capped a stellar season by being named to the Division V All-Ohio second team offense.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Cunningham ran 148 times for 1,691 yards for an 11.4 yards per carry. He scored 17 touchdowns.
Cunningham was a nominee for the district Offensive Player of the Year award that went to Wheelersburg’s Tanner Holden who was named the state offensive POY as well.
Teammate Chase Fisher joined Cunningham as a two-time All-Ohio selection. The 5-11, 225-pound Fisher had 94 solo tackles and 47 assists as a linebacker and was honorable mention.
Also on the honorable mention list for Fairland were 6-2, 205-pound junior all-purpose standout Ty Wilcoxen and 6-2, 170-pound junior quarterback Joel Lambiotte.
Wilcoxen caught 44 passes for 519 yards and three touchdowns and ran 23 times for 175 yards and three score.
Lambiotte was 119-of-188 passing for 1,452 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also ran 54 times for 342 yards and four scores.
The Ironton Fighting Tigers’ landed three players on the All-Ohio third team.
Garrett Carrico — a 5-foot-11, 185-pound senior — was named All-Ohio for the second straight year. The versatile Carrico was named to the defensive team this season after being honored as a running back last year.
Running back Seth Fosson and linebacker Ethan Duncan were also on the third team.
Fosson — a 6-1, 225-pound sophomore — averaged almost 10 yards a carry offensively and also played defensive end. He scored five touchdowns.
The 5-10, 205-pound Duncan also duplicated his selection on the All-Ohio team after being named honorable mention last year.
Duncan was one of Ironton’s top tacklers on defense after moving to linebacker from defensive end.
The Rock Hill Redmen had two players named to the honorable mention list.
On defense was 5-11, 205-pound senior linebacker Cameron Barnette while 5-10, 165-pound sophomore running back Zak Adkins was honored for his offensive numbers.
Barnette — who was honorable mention All-Ohio last year — was the team’s top defensive player and also ran 190 times for 964 yards and 17 touchdowns on offense.
Adkins ran 122 times for 1,163 yards as he averaged 9.5 yards a carry. He scored 13 touchdowns.
Chesapeake Panthers’ 6-foot, 175-pound junior running back Austin Browning was named to the All-Ohio third team offense while named honorable mention were 6-2, 270-pound senior two-way lineman Brevin Webb and 6-3, 180-pound senior placekicker Dalton Nida.
Browning had 166 carries for 1,517 yards and a 9.1 yards per carry average. He scored 17 touchdowns.
South Point Pointers 6-2, 260-pound senior Caleb Eplion was named to the honorable mention list as an offensive lineman.
