Woman pleads insanity in motor vehicle theft

Nearly every defendant in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court this week made not guilty pleas to their charges, except for Melissa Frederick, 50, of 1325 Prospect Ave., Worthington, Kentucky, who pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, and felonious assault, a second-degree felony.

Ballard ordered her to be evaluated.

• Kyle Black, 21, of 2219 S. Ninth St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), felonies of the fourth-degree. Judge Andy Ballard set bond at $10,000 cash or surety and $20,000 OR.

• Jason Blair, 40, of 1091 County Road 115, Chesapeake, pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs (Lortab), a fifth-degree felony, and possession of heroin, also a felony of the fifth-degree. Ballard set bond at $50,000 cash or surety.

• Sally Edie, age and address unknown, pleaded not guilty to grand theft, a fourth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $30,000 OR.

• Joseph Ison, 35, of 1492 County Road 4, Pedro, pleaded not guilty to receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $25,000 OR.

• Francis Lawrence, 29, of 1660 State Route 775, Proctorville, pleaded not guilty to theft, a felony of the fifth-degree. Ballard set bond at $50,000 OR.

• Jordin Perry, 24, of 3868 State Route 141, Ironton, admitted community-controlled sanctions (CCS) violations. Ballard sentenced her to 18 months in prison.

• Tiffany Preston, 32, of 1365 County Road 1, Apt. 21, South Point, pleaded not guilty to three counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), all third-degree felonies. Ballard set bond at $15,000 cash or surety and $30,000 OR.

• Amanda Stephens, 38, of 96 Private Drive 1211, Proctorville, pleaded not guilty to illegal conveyance of prohibited items, a third-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $50,000 cash or surety and $100,000 OR.

• David Webb, 30, of 2313 Hamilton St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to five counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), three fourth-degree felonies and one third-degree felony, two counts of assault on a peace officer, both felonies of the fourth-degree, and possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set pretrial for Dec. 20.

• Candice Blankenship, 31, of 421 Township Road 279W, South Point, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a third-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $15,000 cash or surety and $30,000 OR.

• Jessica Withrow, 32, of 403 Memorial St., Coal Grove, pleaded not guilty to four counts of trafficking in drugs (Adderall), three fourth-degree felonies and one third-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $20,000 cash or surety and $40,000 OR.

• Kimberly K. Cochran, 28, of 619 Cliff St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to three counts of trafficking in heroin, all fourth-degree felonies. Judge Charles Cooper set bond at $15,000 cash or surety and $15,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Dec. 13.

• Misty D. Hunt, 37, of 317 Mulberry St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in drugs (Buprenorphine), a felony of the fourth-degree. Cooper set bond at $15,000 cash or surety and $15,000 OR.

• Jackie Lee Miller, 56, of 618 N. Sixth St., Ironton, denied CCS violations. Cooper set trial for Dec. 13.

• Natasha M. Williams, 31, of 1484 County Road 44, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to grand theft, a fourth-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $25,000 OR and set pretrial for Dec. 27.
