Pola Maniskas

Jan. 31, 1927 — Dec. 16, 2017

Pola S. Maniskas, 90, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, in
Cabell Huntington Hospital. Pola was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Huntington, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Aristotle Lambros and Vaselike Bezu Svingos.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Maniskas; brother, Lambros Svingos; and a sister, Despena Jones.
Mrs. Maniskas was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She was formerly employed at Owens Illinois Glass Company and was additionally a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Daughters of Penelope, the Ronald McDonald House, the Lawrence County Home Makers Club, the Greek Festival of Huntington, the Philoptochos of St. George and was a life member of the YMCA.
Survivors include her son, Eric Maniskas, and his wife, Donna, of South Point; a daughter, Nasha K. Hamra, of Florida; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Tena Karnes, of Huntington, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Mary Svingos, of Huntington, West Virginia; and brother-in-law, Bill Karnes, of Huntington, West Virginia. Special thanks to Chris Maniskas and Kacie Lydell.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday by Father Mark Elliott at St. George Greek Orthodox Church with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.

Judy Parsons

Judy Hamilton Parsons, 77, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017. Her family was by her side as she went to be with the Lord.
She was born Oct. 15, 1940, in Jenkins, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Ivan and Edna Hamilton.
She attended High School in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. She worked at Banc Ohio in Ironton for many years and was also the owner of Class and Sass Dress Shop in Ironton. On June 6, 1959, she married the love of her life, Ronald Willis Parsons. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a great example to all family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Willis Parsons; and a sister, Connie Hamilton Chinn.
Judy is survived by a daughter, Cathy (Steve) Gipson; son, David (Jenny) Parsons; son, Johnny (Janine) Parsons; daughter, Angela (Dave) Mercedes; grandson, Blake (Kristen) Gipson; granddaughter, Miranda Gipson; grandsons, Kyle Parsons, Luke Parsons, Benjamin Parsons and Joshua Mercedes; granddaughter, Allie Mercedes; grandson, Chris Mercedes; a sister, Janice Brown; and many nieces and nephews as well as her husband’s family.  Her family is going to miss her beautiful smile and laughter, her fun and giving character, her dancing and her heart of gold.

Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home in Ironton. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton.

James Heldrith

James Heldrith, 48, of South Point, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. Arrangements are pending at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
