With a winter weather advisory in effect through Saturday morning, ODOT crews have loaded the trucks and will be ready to hit the highways as soon as it’s necessary.

In District 9, crews are already on duty to begin patrolling routes as the first wave of snow is expected to move in during the early evening hours, and additional drivers will be reporting as the front moves eastward. In total, there are 110 trucks and more than 150 drivers ready to tackle winter conditions on the 3,790 lane miles of state and federal routes in the district’s eight counties in south-central Ohio.

While crews will be doing their part to clear roadways, motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution and to be prepared for varying conditions by staying alert, reducing their speed and allowing additional travel time. Drivers should also pay heed to snowplow operators and their trucks that travel at reduced speeds.

ODOT District 9 includes Adams, Brown, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties.
