HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Oh that fourth quarter.
The South Point Pointers had a one-point lead after three quarter but couldn’t generate any offense in the fourth quarter and lost 64-55 to the Huntington St. Joseph Fighting Irish on Tuesday.
The Pointers (3-3) shot 19-of-40 for 48 percent but were only 3-of-12 from behind the 3-point arc. They converted 14-of-20 from the foul line.
Austin Webb had 21 points and four rebounds to lead the Pointers. Tayshaun Fox added 13 points, three assists and five steals.
Isaac Bias scored 21 points and Corey Sweeney 12 to pace the Irish (4-5) who were 7-of-17 at the foul line.
St. Joe was up 14-10 after the first quarter as Bias scored six points.
The Pointers were down 35-30 at the half as Webb scored eight points, Fox had five points and Roger Staggs scored all four of his points in the second quarter.
Sweeney and Bias scored five each for the Irish.
South Point rallied to take a 47-46 lead at the end of the third quarter as Douglas Shaffer hit a pair of 3-pointers and Fox got five points. Bias had six for St. Joseph.
But the Pointers were outscored 18-8 in the fourth quarter as Sweeney hit a 3-pointer and scored five points with Bias and Ryan Webb getting four each in the comeback.
The Pointers visit Fairland on Friday.
