Charlotte Kelley

Oct. 21, 1936 — Dec. 28, 2017

Charlotte Anne Kelley, 81, of South Point, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at a local health care facility. The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 21, 1936, a daughter of the late James and Ivalea Bowman Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jack Kelley.
Mrs. Kelley was a 1954 graduate of South Point High School and was a former switchboard operator for River Valley Health Systems, formerly Lawrence County General Hospital, retiring after 23 years of service there.
She is survived by her children, David (Debbie) Kelley, of Ironton, Michael (Patty) Kelley, of Texas, Sandy (Kathy) Kelley, of Ironton, Jimmy Kelley, of South Point, and Chris (Iris) Kelley, of Cincinnati; six grandchildren, David Kelley, of North Dakota, Paul Michael Kelley and Amanda Kelley, both of Texas, Hannah Kelley, of South Point, and Holden Kelley and Milena Kelley, both of Cincinnati; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Kay (Gary) Bailey, of South Point; extended family member, Donna Thomas; and special friend, Diane Cothern. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Brother Matt Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service today at the funeral home. Tammy Nutter

Tammy Sue Nutter, 46, of Coal Grove, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. The Coal Grove native was born June 26, 1971, a daughter of the late Dallas P. and Ruth Ann Jenkins Keiser.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Steven Wayne Nutter, whom she married Jan. 16, 1993.
Tammy was a 1990 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and attended Ohio University Southern Campus. She was an employee for the West Virginia State Tax Auditor’s Office for 16 years and a member of the Russell First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Coal Grove Betterment Club, The Coal Grove Fire Department Auxiliary and helped coach in the Upward Sports League.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Shelby Ann Keiser; and her father-in-law, James Nutter.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Tyler Nutter and Isabelle Nutter, both at home; a brother, Patrick (Lee Ann Sparks) Keiser; a niece, Emilee Keiser; and her mother-in-law, Bertha Nutter.

Melvin Riggle

March 5, 1949 — Dec. 31, 2017

Melvin Allen Riggle, 68, of South Point, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. The Lawrence County native was born March 5, 1949, a son of the late Thomas F. Riggle, Sr. and Betty L. Buck Riggle.
Mr. Riggle was a graduate of Ironton High School and loved to fish. He was a former drummer and attended the Hanging Rock Apostolic Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth (Jim) Neff; and a son-in-law, Patrick Walker.
He is survived by three sons, Paul (Anne) Barnett, of South Point, and Dwayne Riggle and Craig Riggle, both of Ironton; a daughter, Tammy Walker, of Ironton; two brothers, Thomas (Betty) Riggle, of Leatherwood, and Willard (Belinda) Rowe, of Ironton; a sister, Kathy (Jim) Lemaster, of Ashland, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Kimberly Wilson, Aaron Barnett, Courtney Stefanik, Josh Riggle, Justin Barnett and Alexis Riggle; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Elder Glenn Jenkins officiating. Philip Cox

Philip Eugene Cox, 87, of Jackson, formerly of Proctorville, Oak Hill and Chesapeake, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017.

Robert Workman

Jan. 6, 1925 — Dec. 30, 2017

Robert E. Workman, 92, of Wheelersburg, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Southern Ohio Medical Center, Portsmouth. Robert was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of the late Kenneth and Roxie (Nipps) Workman, and had lived most of his life in Ironton. He was retired from Aristech Chemical Corp.
Robert was especially proud to be a WWII survivor, having entered the U.S. Army at the age of 18 and spending most of the war in New Guinea.
He is survived by one stepson, John (Sue) Fetters, of Minford; one step-grandson, Aaron Fetters, of Evanston, Illinois; and one step-great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Dressel Workman; his second wife, Doris Fetters Workman; one brother; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be noon Thursday at D.W. Swick-Nelson Funeral Home, Wheelersburg, with the Rev. Mike Mounts officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park, Wheelersburg. James Nungesser

James Walter Nungesser, 70, of Proctorville, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Linda Quinn Nungesser.
