Paintings feature landscapes, birds

Twenty original paintings by local artist Sylvia Jackson are currently on display at the Ironton branch of the Briggs Lawrence County Library through Saturday, Feb. 24.

Jackson is a self-taught artist who has been creating art for most of her life. She enjoys painting country landscapes, and flowers and vegetables from her garden.

Some of her paintings include pumpkins, cabbage, sunflowers and birds, specifically cardinals, which she says she may be best known for. She also added that each of her paintings have a story behind it.
