WILLOW WOOD — Oh those peaks and valleys.
The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings had two good quarters but two bad quarters as well in a 56-43 Southern Ohio Conference loss on Thursday.
Jensyn Shepherd had 17 points, 13 rebounds and two blocked shots for the Lady Vikings (9-7, 5-6). Kaitlyn Crabtree finished with 11 points, 18 rebounds and three steals while Kylie Deer added four assists and four steals and Taylor Sells had seven rebounds.
Regan Osborn scored 22 points and Jensen Warnock had 17 to lead the Lady Panthers (11-6, 9-4).
Clay led just 17-16 after the first quarter as Osborn scored seven points. Osborn, Warnock and Cameron DeLotell all hit 3-pointers.
Kaylee Cade hit a pair of 3-pointers, Rachael Hayes had a triple and Shepherd scored four points for the Lady Vikings.
Clay outscored Symmes Valley 19-8 in the second quarter to go up 36-24 at the half. Warnock scored nine points and Osborn seven more while Shepherd had six of the Lady Vikings total.
The Lady Vikings held Clay to just three points in the third quarter and cut the deficit to 39-36. Crabtree scored five points, Shepherd four and Deer hit a 3-pointer.
But the Lady Vikings only managed seven points in the fourth quarter while Warnock had six points and Osborn five.
On Tuesday, Symmes Valley hosts South Gallia.
