Lady Pointers down Gallipolis

GALLIPOLIS — Everyone was doing something.
With everyone getting involved, the South Point Lady Pointers whipped the Gallipolis Blue Angels 52-35 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
Emilee Whitt scored 16 points to lead a balanced offense. Leah Lawson scored 11 points, Kate Mundy nine and Madison Kearns eight.
Ashley Perkey and Mundy had five rebounds each and Kearns four. Whitt handed out six assists with Lawson and Maddy Khounlavong three each. Whitt and Lawson had five steals each.
South Point was 21-of-51 from the field for 41 percent but only 7-of-25 from behind the arc for 28 percent.
Gallipolis (8-9, 3-8) was led by Ryelee Sipple with 13 points and Alex Barnes scored 11.
South Point took a 13-8 first quarter lead as Whitt scored five points. Whitt, Lawson and Khounlavong all it 3-pointers.
Barnes hit a 3-pointer and scored five points and Ashton Webb also hit a triple for Gallipolis.
The lead was 23-17 at the half as five different players scored for South Point.
Lawson scored six points and Kearns hit a pair of 3-pointers as the Lady Pointers outscored Gallipolis 17-4 and opened up a 40-21 lead.
Mundy hit a 3-pointer and scored seven points while Whitt had five points as the Lady Pointers sealed the win.
Sipple score six points and Barnes was 4-of-5 from the foul line in the quarter.
On Thursday, South Point hosts Ironton and Gallipolis entertains Fairland.
