Chapman scores 35 with 10 3-pointers in 66-32 win

CHESAPEAKE — Maybe Emily Chapman should change her name to Emithree.
Chapman hit a school record 10 3-point goals on just 12 attempts as she scored 35 points to lead the Fairland Lady Dragons to a 66-32 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Monday.
Fairland (19-2, 13-0) was 23-of-53 from the field including 16-of-32 from the 3-point line.
Allie Marshall had 11 rebounds and two blocked shots. Alesha Simpson added five rebounds and three assists with Chapman getting six rebounds and had five assists.
Chesapeake (9-11, 6-7) was led by Natalee Hall with 14 points, six rebounds and two assists. Shia Ervin had eight rebounds and Brooke Webb five rebounds.
Kelsie Warnock started the game hitting a 3-pointer for Fairland. Hall hit two straight baskets and the Lady Panthers were up 5-3 at the 5:45 mark.
Chapman then went to work with a 3-pointer, Harley Lyons hit another and then Chapman hit two more 3-pointers, a two-point basket, and made three free throws.
Chapman finished with 17 points in the quarter as Fairland took a 23-9 lead.
A basket by Shia Ervin and a 3-pointer by Karli Davis had the Lady Panthers down 26-14 with 4:31 left in the half.
But Chapman made two more triples, Lyons had a 3-pointer and Taylar Wilson scored for a 37-14 lead with 2:48 on the clock. Hall had a free throw and it was 37-15 at the half.
Chapman hit a 3-pointer with 2:59 left in the third quarter that extended Fairland’s lead to 49-18.
Three fouls shots by Hall and a basket by Haley Stapleton left the Fairland lead at 49-23 at the end of the quarter.
Chapman knocked down three more 3-pointers to begin the fourth quarter — the last one coming with 5:53 left that opened up a 58-23 lead and her night was finished.
On Thursday, Chesapeake is at Gallipolis and Fairland visits Rock Hill.
