PORTSMOUTH — When you’re not making shots, it’s hard to win.
The Rock Hill Redmen shot just 34 percent from the field in a 55-37 loss to the Portsmouth Trojans in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Tuesday.
Rock Hill was 16-of-47 from the field and did not connected on seven 3-point attempts.
Kadin France had 12 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals to lead the Redmen (1-16, 1-12).
Jaret Bacorn added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Redmen while Jake Blagg had three assists and two steals.
Portsmouth (11-5, 7-4) was led by Reese Johnson with 16 points including a pair of 3-pointers. Daniel Jordan scored 12 points and Matthew Frauline had 11 and also hit two 3-pointers.
Isaac Kelly made a pair of 3-pointers and Johnson scored four points as Portsmouth took a 14-9 first quarter lead. Bacorn had four points.
Johnson hit a 3-pointer and scored seven points and five different players scored as the Trojans pulled ahead 31-17 at the half.
France had half of Rock Hill’s eight points.
Both teams struggled to score in the third quarter with Portsmouth going up 37-21.
In the fourth quarter, Frauline hit both his 3-pointers, Johnson had a 3-pointer as he scored five points while Jordan got seven points including 3-of-4 from the foul line.
Cody Roberts and France had four points each as six different players scored for the Redmen.
On Friday, Rock Hill hosts South Point and Portsmouth entertains Gallipolis.
