World Thrift store owner arrested in police raid
SOUTH POINT — Police in South Point have arrested the owner of the World Thrift store, following the execution of a search warrant on Friday.
South Point police chief Chris Mahjer said a warrant was sought for suspicion of stolen items and drug activity and was executed by police at about 2 p.m.
Mahjer said officers found stolen items and powdered cocaine on the premises of the store, which has been operating in the village for several months. World Thrift was previously located in Ironton.
Mahjer said police arrested Jay Ferrell, the store’s owner, during the raid.
He said the store has been an issue in the village for some time, with many calls of concern from residents.
