JACKSON — Just like the show “Pardon The Interruption,” the South Point Lady Pointers ended with The Big Finish.
The Lady Pointers outscored the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 17-7 in the fourth quarter and pulled away to a 40-27 win in the Division III sectional tournament on Monday.
South Point (11-11) will now play top-seeded Fairland at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the sectional finals.
Ashley Perkey scored 12 points, Leah Lawson got nine points, Kate Mundy hit a pair of 3-pointers and Emilee Whitt finished with six points and five steals to lead the Lady Pointers.
Karli Davis scored 10 points and Natalee Hall nine points to lead the Lady Panthers (11-12).
Whitt and Perkey scored four points each in the first quarter as South Point took a 10-5 lead.
Shia Ervin scored all four of her points and Hall hit a 3-pointer for the Lady Panthers in the second quarter as the Lady Panthers pulled to within 18-16 at the half.
Mundy and Lawson each hit 3-pointers in the quarter.
Madison Kearns hit a trifecta and Perkey had a basket as South Point outscored Chesapeake 5-4 in the third quarter to lead 23-20.
Davis scored all four of Chesapeake’s points in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter big finish, Perkey scored four points, Lawson and Mundy hit 3-pointers and Whitt made two key free throws to help the Lady Pointers advance to the sectional finals.
Hall had four points including 2-of-4 at the foul line and Davis knocked down another trey for Chesapeake.
