Carol Allyn

July 17, 1931 — Feb. 14, 2018

Carol Ann Allyn, 86, of Ironton, passed away peacefully from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at River Bend House, Wheelersburg.
Mrs. Allyn was born July 17, 1931, in Ashland, Ohio, a daughter to the late Paul and Alma (Shanks) Witmer. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Tom Allyn, whom she married Sept. 11, 1955.
Mrs. Allyn was a 1949 graduate of Ashland High School and attended Ohio State University. Carol loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed decorating. She also enjoyed playing euchre with her friends, the LOTA Club at Sta-Tan Pool, and their yearly trips to Myrtle Beach. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ironton and the Child Welfare Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Glorine Kirkwood and Marilyn “Pete” Harper.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Tim (Kim) Allyn, of Palatine, Illinois, Tami (Randy) Rowe, of Ironton, and Suzi (Charles) Roberts, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Morgan (Tony) Medinger, Taylor (Justin) Boyer, Eliza (Nicholas) Kosanovich, Cody Blum, Calin Blum, Delanie Blum and Tylar Roberts; and three great-grandchildren, Carson, Averi and Brigston Medinger.
Also, a special thank you to the staff at River Bend House and SOMC Hospice Center for all their wonderful care and compassion toward Carol and the family.
Celebration of Life service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Carson Hunt officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be 1 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral home.

Mary Maxine Neville Sparks, 92, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Harbor Health Care, Ironton. The Coal Grove native was born Nov. 6, 1925, a daughter of the late Roy and Shirley Rawlins Neville. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Henderson Sparks Sr., who passed away Oct. 10, 2012.
Mrs. Sparks was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Sheila (Charles) North, of Ironton, and Cheri Harris, of Lexington, Kentucky; and a son, William (Donna) Sparks Jr., of Ashland, Kentucky.

Bertha Willis

Bertha V. Willis, 86, of South Point, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Ken Gowen officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.
