Hairston set to retire July 31
The Rock Hill Board of Education has started a search for a new superintendent, to fill the position being vacated by Wes Hairston when he retires on July 31.
Hairston, who has been on the job for nine years, said his contract ends following this school year and that the board accepted his announcement at its last school meeting.
“I thought it was time,” he said. “I’m thankful for all of the opportunities presented to me and proud of the things we have accomplished. It’s time for the younger generation to have a turn.”
Hairston said this year will mark his 39th year employed by the school district.
