Norma Martin

Jan. 4, 1963 — March 20, 2018

Norma Jean Martin, 55, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born Jan. 4, 1963, a daughter of the late Arthur Remy and Jessie King. She is survived by her husband, Rick Martin.
Mrs. Martin attended Coal Grove High School and was a homemaker. She loved to sew, quilt and work on their farm. She was an avid fan of NASCAR and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Justice; a grandson, Michael James Akers; three brothers, Garland Remy, Homer Remy and Joe Remy; her grandmother, Mary Adams; and her mother-in-law, Gerry Martin.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Tara (John) Hammonds, of Ironton, Tracey (Brady) Brown, of South Point, and Jessica Martin, of Ironton; three sisters, Shirley King, of South Point, Mary (Tommy) Craig, of South Solon, and Pauline Corbin, of Ironton; a brother, Ray (Ellen) Remy, of Ironton; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Linda Jane Yates, 70, of Ironton, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Yates was born on July 30, 1947, to the late Ralph and Hilda Heaberlin in Wurtland, Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Gray.
In her free time, she enjoyed giving back to those in need through quilting and baking.
Surviving are one son, Rodney Yates; two brothers, Butch Heaberlin and Mike Heaberlin; nieces; nephews; and a host of other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
