Costumed characters, activities, more at Ro-Na fundraiser

Children were able to see the Easter Bunny and other favorite characters Saturday morning.

The annual Brunch with the Bunny took place at the Ro-Na Theater in Ironton, with funds raised going toward the restoration of the venue.

“We have activities for the children,” Valerie Freeman, a board member with Friends of Ironton, who organized the event, said. “They can visit with the bunny and we have pancakes, sausage and milk for breakfast.”

In addition to the bunny, volunteers were dressed as other characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Belle from “Beauty and the Beast,” Dorothy form “The Wizard of Oz” and Tigger from “Winnie the Pooh.”

Crafts and coloring activities were also available for the children.

Freeman said the turnout had been strong, after the first hour. A steady stream of attendees continued to enter the theater.

“We’re very pleased so far,” she said. “And the morning is young.”

The Friends of Ironton host a similar Breakfast with Santa event in December, as part of their fundraising efforts.
