Oak Hill holds off Fairland

PEDRO — This isn’t what they mean by taking a walk on the wild side.
Pitchers for both teams combined for 15 walks as the Oak Hill Oaks held off the Fairland Dragons 11-7 on Tuesday at the Rock Hill Wooden Bat Classic.
Fairland pitchers walked eight batters and allowed 10 hits while Oak Hill pitchers walked seven and gave up seven hits.
Oak Hill built an 11-3 lead after four innings and had to withstand a late surge by the Dragons who got a run in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Jace Vonville was 2-4 with a double and two runs batted in to lead Fairland (0-2). Kyle Rankin was 1-2 with a double and two RBI while Garrett Looney and Dairus Stapleton wre 1-3 and Tucker Adkins 1-4 with an RBI.
The Dragons host Raceland, Ky., on Thursday in their home opener.
