Student who made school threat indicted by grand jury

Drugs make up bulk of indicments

One student who allegedly made threats against her school earlier this year was recently indicted by a Lawrence County grand jury since she is 18 years old.

Breianna N. May, 18, of 14585 State Route 141, Willow Wood, was indicted for inducing panic, a second-degree felony, and making terroristic threats, a third-degree felony.

As for the inducing panic charge, according to the indictment, on or about Feb. 21, 2018, in Lawrence County, May did, cause the evacuation of any public place, or otherwise cause serious public inconvenience or alarm by initiating or circulating a report or warning of an alleged or impending fire, explosion, crime, or other catastrophe, knowing that such report or warning was false and the public place involved was a school.

Regarding the charge of making terroristic threats, according to the indictment, on or about Feb. 21, 2018, in Lawrence County, May did, threaten to commit or threaten to cause to be committed a school shooting at Symmes Valley High School, and made the threat with purpose to intimidate or coerce a civilian population.

The threats allegedly were made on a popular social media website, and search warrants were obtained by county sheriff’s deputies for the site and cell phones. Through these subpoenas, the IP address was obtained, which led to May.

She later admitted to posting the content in an interview with detectives.

• Kelli J. Runyon, 32, of 615 Cliff St., Ironton; fifth-degree possession of drugs (methamphetamine).

• Ashley N. Rhodes-Slone, 27, of 2803 S. Fifth St., Ironton; fifth-degree possession of drugs (methamphetamine).

• Christopher J. Ervin, 51, of 2803 S. Fifth St., Ironton; fifth-degree possession of drugs (methamphetamine).

• Mark Anthony Saxton, 45, of 6663 Strattford Lakes Blvd., Winchester; fifth-degree possession of heroin.

• Michelle N. Boothe, 38, of 1405 S. Sixth St., Ironton; second-degree illegal cultivation of marijuana and endangering children, a first-degree misdemeanor.

• Destiny O. Cade, 26, of 631 Ashtabula St., Ironton; fifth-degree possession of drugs (methamphetamine).

• Benjamin S. Hughes, 43, of 3666 State Route 93, Ironton; fifth-degree possession of drugs (Methylin), and possession of drugs (Buprnorphine Hydrochloride), a first-degree misdemeanor.

• Billy J. McGhee, 27, of 1367 State Route 93, Ironton; fifth-degree possession of drugs (methamphetamine).

• Miranda N. Thompson, 25, of 3770 Ripley Road, Point Pleasant, West Virginia; third-degree tampering with evidence, fifth-degree possession of drugs (methamphetamine), and possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor.

• Bryton L. Harden, 22, of 3571 Balls Branch Road, Culloden, West Virginia; fourth-degree improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and fifth-degree possession of drugs (methamphetamine).

• Christopher M. Keesee, 45, of 506 Rockwood Ave., Chesapeake; fifth-degree possession of cocaine.

• Briana J. Kinstler, 24, of 68 County Road 405, Ironton; fifth-degree possession of drugs (methamphetamine).

• Cheyenne N. Belville, 19, of 1412 S. First St., Ironton; fifth-degree possession of drugs (methamphetamine).

• Tricia G. Adkins, 30, of 1612 CC Drive, Ashland, Kentucky; third-degree failure to comply.

• James R. Brewer, 30, of 78 Campground Road, Waterloo; two counts of fifth-degree forgery, and misuse of a credit card, a first-degree misdemeanor.

• Brian K. Samples, 28, of 1002 ½ 13th St., Huntington, West Virginia; fourth-degree carrying a concealed weapon.

• Brandon L. Mullens, 35, of 2451 S. Fifth St., Ironton; fourth-degree assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor.

• Kelly A. Poindexter, 43, of 951 Jefferson Ave., Huntington, West Virginia; fourth-degree grand theft.

An indictment is a formal allegation that an individual has committed a crime. All are innocent until proven guilty in court.
