BEAVER — It’s Hammer time.
The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings hammered out 20 hits as they beat the Beaver Eastern Lady Eagles 14-10 in a Southern Ohio Conference game on Monday.
Everyone in the Lady Vikings’ lineup had at least one hit.
“We hit the ball really well up and down the lineup,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep. “That’s about as well as we’ve hit all season.”
Emily Estep led the onslaught as she went 4-for-5 with two doubles and six runs batted in.
Taylor Webb was 3-4 with two doubles and two RBI, Ericca Ross was 3-5, Sarah Kingery and Kara Saunders both 2-5 with a double, and Rachael Hayes and Payton Hunter both 2-5.
Symmes Valley (6-3, took charge with six runs in the first inning.
Kingery and Webb doubled for a run and Ross singled in a run. Hayes singled and Estep doubled home a pair.
Emily Sharp reached on an error, a wild pitch moved the runners up and Hunter had a two-run single.
Eastern got two runs in the bottom of the first but the Lady Vikings got the runs back in the top of the second.
Saunders and Ross singled, Hayes reached on an error and Estep had a two-run single.
The Eagles got three runs in the second but the Lady Vikings added a run scored in the third to make it 9-5 when Hunter and Kingery singled, Morgan Jenkins hit into a fielder’s choice and Webb hit a sacrifice fly.
Eastern scored two runs in the fifth only to have the Lady Vikings answer with two of their own in the sixth.
Ross singled, Estep hit into a fielder’s choice and Sharp hit into a fielder’s choice to score a run. Hunter singled in the second run.
The Lady Vikings added three more runs in the seventh.
With one out, Webb and Saunders doubled for a run. An out later, Hayes singled and Estep slugged her second two-run double.
Eastern managed three runs in the bottom of the inning to set the final score.
The Lady Vikings visit Portsmouth Clay on Wednesday.
