HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Former Marshall quarterback Reggie Oliver will serve as the featured speaker at the annual turning on of the Memorial Fountain ceremony Saturday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m., prior to the 2 p.m. Green and White Scrimmage.
Oliver was the signal-caller at Marshall from 1971-73, including the immortal Young Thundering Herd team during his sophomore campaign.
“I’m returning to share some history with the campus and community and I couldn’t be more honored to do so,” said Oliver.
The scrimmage will be held in Joan C. Edwards Stadium pending no inclement weather. In the event of adverse conditions, the scrimmage will be moved inside the Chris Cline Indoor Athletic Facility.
The event will be open to the general public and admission will be $5. Even with an expected large crowd, seating will be limited to the west side of the stadium.
Parking permits that will guarantee fans a spot on the Stadium West Lot on a first come, first served basis are available to purchase in advance for $20 apiece.
Tickets and parking may be purchased through the Marshall Ticket Office at this time by visiting HerdZone.com or by calling 800-THE-HERD.
Two complimentary tickets to the Green and White Scrimmage have been issued to each 2017 season ticket holder account. Season ticket holders may purchase additional tickets for $5 apiece.
There will be a special autograph session with Super Bowl winner and Marshall Football alumni Vinny Curry prior to the scrimmage for Big Green Members and season ticket holders only.
Details regarding the autograph session will be sent via email next week.
The Joan C. Edwards Stadium West Lot will open at 8 a.m. The Marshall Athletics Ticket Office will conduct a Choose-A-Seat program at 12:30 p.m. when stadium gates open. Fans interested in purchasing season tickets for the 2018 season will also be able to do so on-site.

“Having the opportunity to welcome Reggie back will be a treat for everyone,” said Marshall Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick.
“His address will be part of a memorable day that includes a chance to see the Thundering Herd in action later that afternoon.”
