PORTSMOUTH — The Fairland Dragons have a one in the “W” column.
The Dragons got their first win of the season as they beat the Portsmouth Trojans 7-2 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Tuesday.
“We played a complete game. It feels good to get the money off our back,” said Dragons’ coach Alex Beelen.
“Gavin threw well. Defensively we made the plays behind him and we had 13 hits. We had a baserunner in every inning.”
Leading the Dragons 13-hit attack was Tucker Adkins who was 3-4 with a double. Jace Vonville was 2-4 with a run batted in, Garrett Looney 2-3 with a double and Kyle Rankin 2-4.
Fairland visits Coal Grove on Wednesday while Portsmouth hosts South Point in conference games.
