Freda Stafford

Feb. 24, 1932 — April 23, 2018

Freda Mae Stafford, 86, of Coal Grove, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. The Forestdale native was born Feb. 24, 1932, a daughter of the late John August Mayfield and Angie Losey Mayfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Don Stafford, who passed away Jan. 23, 1976.
Mrs. Stafford was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Marshall University. She was a member of the Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a former elementary school teacher for the Ironton City Schools and Bellvue City Schools, retiring in 1993 after 42 years of service. She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church in Coal Grove, where she enjoyed fellowshipping and participating in activities with her church family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Mayfield, Ruth Mayfield and Edith Willis; and a brother and sister (twins), who died at infancy.
She is survived by a daughter, Elisabeth “Lisa” Winters, of Coal Grove; a granddaughter, Donielle “Doni” Winters, of Ironton; a brother, John W. (Lynn) Mayfield, of Huntington, West Virginia; three nephews, Stephen (Scherry) Willis, of Newton, Illinois, and Dr. Kevin (Joni) Willis and Philip (Cheryl) Willis, all of Ironton; a niece, Nichole (Steven) Hicks, of Ironton; seven great-nieces and nephews; and seven great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jim Beals officiating. Burial will follow in Ice Creek Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Cheryl Null

Oct. 14, 1951 — April 24, 2018

Cheryl Lynn Null, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. The Waterloo native was born Oct. 14, 1951, the daughter of the late Louise Null Lambert.
Cheryl was a 1969 graduate of Symmes Valley High School and a secretary of Hecla Water Company, where she worked for 33 years. She was also a longtime employee of Lambert’s Market. She was a member of the Waterloo Methodist Church, enjoyed crafts, flower arranging and watching television. She was also an Elvis Presley fan, an avid Black Friday shopper and was once a contestant on the Ohio Lottery Cash Explosion television show. She was a devoted sister, who was loved by many.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Pearl Null; a sister, Karen Walden; and a nephew, Brett Shoemaker.
She is survived by two sisters, Beverly (Wayne) Shoemaker, of Jackson, and Bonnie (Joe) Pemberton, of Coal Grove; a brother, Mike Null, of Waterloo; a brother-in-law, Tom Walden, of Ironton; three nieces, Sheila Jo (Craig) Spencer, of Jackson, Jodi McGraw, of Ironton, and Amber (David) Schlief, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; two nephews, Ryan (Kristen) Shoemaker, of Jackson, and Chad Walden, of Ironton; and great-nieces and nephews, Savanah McGraw, Cayden McGraw, Tatum McGraw, Jacob Schlief, Oliver Walden and Dylan Walden.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Bill Goodall officiating. Burial will follow in Flagsprings Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. David “Eric” Morris, 45, of South Point, died Monday, April 23, 2018, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

John Williams

May 6, 1947 — April 24, 2018

John L. Williams, 70, of Kitts Hill, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born May 6, 1947, a son of the late Elmer and Pauline Harmon Williams.
Mr. Williams was a 1966 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a U.S. Army veteran, who served in the Vietnam War. He was a former employee for Durkee Foods in Cincinnati and Penco in Ashland. He attended Bald Knob United Bretheren Church. He loved NASCAR, taking pictures, fishing, nature, Ohio State football, the Cincinnati Reds, spending time with family and watching Days of Our Lives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ancil Cecil Williams.
He is survived by three brothers, Paul (Brenda) Williams and Pearl (Melissa) Alford Williams, all of Kitts Hill, and Arthur (Janice) Williams, of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Barbara (Dale) Blakeman, of Kitts Hill; an aunt and uncle, Marie (Joe) Butts, of Wilmington; 11 nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor James Kearns officiating. Burial will follow in Bald Knob Cemetery and visitation will be 1 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
