Ironton Elks Lodge 177 recently helped out the Ironton National Little League by donating $2,000 for new batting cage netting.

The league asked the Elks lodge if it could assist in any way, stating that the old netting at the batting cages were very worn out and in need of being replaced.

“We really appreciated their generous contribution,” Travis Wylie, of the Ironton National Little League, said. “This allowed us to purchase the nets and spend other funds on much needed improvements. They hit it out of the park.”

Elks Exalted Ruler JD Thomas said the lodge is always happy to help in any way it can.

“We appreciate their role in helping the youth in our community. We always look forward to giving back to our area,” Thomas said. “With continuing community support for our events and activities, we’re able to keep this charitable giving program going.”

Some upcoming Ironton Elks events include an arts, crafts and vendor show Saturday, May 12, the annual golf scramble at the Ironton Country Club Saturday, May 19, a concert featuring String Therapy and Sour Mash String Band on Friday, June 8, and a charted bus from Ironton to a Cincinnati Reds game on Sunday, July 19.
