PEDRO — There’s nothing like good pitching. Just ask the Rock Hill Redwomen and Kylee Howard.
Howard scattered eight hits as she was able to hit her spots as the Redwomen blanked the South Point Lady Pointers 3-0 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Rock Hill (9-9, 5-5) had nine hits with Howard going 3-4 with a double, Maddie Harper 2-2 with a double and Keilie Adams 2-3 and an RBI.
Jill Alysworth was 2-4 and Abby Hannah 2-3 with a double for South Point.
Rock Hill took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Howard singled and Grace Stevens doubled her home. Harper and Adams followed with singles for the second run.
The Redwomen added a run in the third when Howard doubled and Harper sacrificed her home.
Howard was aided by an outstanding defensive play by Kelsey Olderham in the sixth inning.
With two outs and runners and first and second, Hannah singled back through the middle. Olderham came up with the ball and gunned a throw to get the runner out at home.
On Friday, Rock Hill visits Portsmouth at 6 p.m. and South Point travels to Ironton.
