SOUTH POINT — The Rock Hill Redwomen should have went to Las Vegas on Wednesday. They rolled a lucky pair of sevens.
The Redwomen scored seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings as they beat the South Point Lady Pointers 15-4 in a six-inning Ohio Valley Conference game.
Kylee Howard gave Rock Hill a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a home run.
South Point took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second when Abby Hannah singled, Sara Allen reached on an error and Reece Duncan singled.
The scored remained that way until Rock Hill rolled a pair of sevens.
In the fifth, Baylie Harrah walked, Taylor Hall reached on a force play, Rileigh Morris and Howard singled and Grace Stevens doubled. Maddie Harper followed with a three-run homer to put Rock Hill up 6-2.
Makenzie Hanshaw singled and scored on a ground out.
South Point got a run in the fifth on a single by Destinee Newton, a fielder’s choice and an error that allowed Sophie Morrison to reach safely and score the run.
In the sixth, Howard reached on an error, Stevens walked and Harper was hit by a pitch. Hanshaw walked to force in a run and Keilie Adams singled. Sam Stamper walked to drive in a run, Harrah singled for a run, Hall had a two-run single and Morris singled.
The Lady Pointers managed a run in the bottom of the sixth when Holly Ramey walked and Reece Duncan reached on an error.
Morris was 3-5 to lead a 13-hit attack. Howard — who got the pitching win — was 2-5 with a home run, Adams went 2-4 while Haper had three RBI and Stevens, Hall and Harrah each drove in two runs.
Rock Hill visits Portsmouth on Friday.
