MINFORD — This just doesn’t seem to be my day.
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers just didn’t have any energy as the lost 10-5 to the Minford Lady Falcons on Tuesday.
“Minford has a really solid team who really hit well,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields.
Minford had 17 hits en route to the win. Hannah Tolle was 4-4 while Emily Shoemaker, Brittani Wolfenbarker, Zoe Doll, and Madison Sifford all went 3-4.
Ironton (13-8) had egith hits as Rylie Vaughn was 2-2 with a home run, Kenzie Cremeens 2-3 and a home run, and Riley Schreck was 2-4.
Shoemaker hit a solo home run to give Minford a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Ironton tied the game in the top of the third on Vaughn’s home run leading off the inning.
Minford came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning when Wolfenbarker doubled, Doll singled, Tolle doubled and Sifford singled.
The Lady Falcons got three runs in the fourth on singles by Shoemaker, Wolfenbarker, and Doll, a double by Tolle and aground out by Hale.
Ironton scored two runs in the top of the fifth when Schreck singled and Cremeens homered.
The lead went to 10-3 in the bottom of the fifth when Hannah Thacker and Shoemaker singled, Wolfenbarker doubled and Doll singled.
Ironton kept battling by scoring two runs in the sixth.
Taiya Hamlet and Vaughn walked and Sophia Caines had an RBI single. Mary Beth Burton grounded out to drive in the second run.
