Now, that’s what you call a senior night.
All four St. Joseph seniors contributed as the Flyers beat the Fairland Dragons 9-1 on Tuesday.
Senior Clay Willis pitched a three-hitter, stuck out nine and walked four in getting the win.
“It’s nice to win on senior night. Willis pitched a good game, (Chase) Walters had hit, Brycen Canter made two nice plays in the outfield and Ryan Scaife knocked in a run,” said Flyers’ coach Greg Bryant.
St. Joseph (12-3) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Jackson Rowe walked, stole second, moved to third on a hit by Isaac Whaley and scored on a wild pitch.
The lead went to 5-0 in the third.
Rowe walked, stole second and scored on Willis’ double. Whaley walked, both moved up on a wild pitch and a balk scored a run. Walters reached on a missed third strike as a run score.
Walters moved up on a passed ball and scored on Trae Crabtree’s sacrifice fly.
The Flyers got a run in the fourth when Rowe singled, moved to second on a bad throw and scored on Whaley’s double.
Fairland got a run in the fifth when Reilly Sowards walked, Gavin Hunt put down a sacrifice and Eli Bowen had an RBI double.
The Flyers got the run back in the bottom of the inning.
Crabtree doubled, J.C. Damron singled and Scaife hit a sacrifice fly scoring pinch-runner Izsak Unger.
The final two runs scored in the sixth when Rowe, Willis and Whaley all walked and Walters and Crabtree had RBI singles.
Rowe went 2-2, Whaley 2-2 with an RBI and Crabtree 2-2 with a double an RBI.
Bowen and Sowards were 1-2 and Dairus Stapleton 1-3 to account for Fairland’s offense.
St. Joseph visits South Gallia on Wednesday.
