PROCTORVILLE — Bryce Depriest has a hot bat.
Depriest went 4-for-4 with two doubles and six runs batted in as the Chesapeake Panthers rolled past the Fairland Dragons 16-4 in five innings on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Depriest got plenty of help including Trent Dearth who was 2-4 with an RBI and Bretton Martin 2-4 with two RBI. Evan Burcham was 1-3 but he had three RBI and Zach Wright was 1-2 with an RBI.
“Our kids are starting to hit the ball. We’ve had 57 percent quality at-bats in five of our last six games. Depriest has been stinging the ball. Depriest and Dearth have been hitting well,” said Panthers’ coach Justin Davis.
“Bretton pitched pretty well and defensively we didn’t make any errors. We’re starting to play a lot better.”
Martin went four innings and struck out three, walked two, gave up just three hits and three earned runs.
The Dragons finished with four hits with Dairus Stapleton going 2-3 with two runs batted in. Dacoda Chapman was 1-2 and Kyle Rankin 1-3.
Chesapeake visits South Point on Friday and hosts Ironton on Monday.
