Chinn accused of shooting man during burglary, caught at Pennsylvania casino

A South Point woman is in a Pennsylvania jail awaiting extradition to West Virginia after she was accused of shooting a 67-year-old Morgantown, West Virginia man after burglarizing his home.

On April 30, Elizabeth Ann Chinn, 32, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Timothy Pahl.

According to a press release from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, “witnesses were located and provided statements that Elizabeth A. Chinn had confessed to shooting the victim during a burglary of his residence.”

“Evidence obtained during the investigation and statements made by Elizabeth A. Chinn to law enforcement corroborated those witness statements that while she was burglarizing the victims home he confronted her and she then shot and killed him,” the press release continued.

Chinn was arrested at a casino in Pennsylvania with three other people, counterfeiting equipment, personal items of Pahl and drugs.

Pahl, a retired West Virginia Division of Forestry worker, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach on April 24 at his home on Old Stewartstown Road.

She was captured at a casino in Pennsylvania.

According to Monongalia County, West  Virginia, Pahl had been shot on April 22 and his house burglarized. The suspects took his pickup truck, credit cards, guns and personal items.

Chinn and three others, Glenn Richard Weaver, 25, of Morgantown, West Virginia, Moriah Lari Weaver, 42, of Fairmont, West Virginia, and Elizabeth Hartley, 35, of Grafton, West Virginia, were arrested by Pennsylvania State Police on April 25 at the Mohegan Sun Casino and hotel in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The casino is about five hours away from Morgantown, West Virginia, near the border of Pennsylvania and New York.

Police were watching the hotel when they saw Chinn driving Pahl’s pickup truck and enter a hotel room. Troopers and U.S. Marshals raided the room and found Pahl’s credit cards in Chinn’s wallet. Also found were three handguns, methamphetamine, digital scales, lighters and pipes.

Officers also recovered counterfeit money printing equipment and $14,000 in fake cash with duplicate serial numbers. Glenn Weaver is suspected of passing the counterfeit money in West Virginia.

They were charged with theft, drug possession, drug trafficking, possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing instruments of crime, and tampering with public records.

Chinn was also charged with illegal firearms possession and receiving stolen property.

All four suspects remain in the Luzeme County Correctional Facility in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition.
