Lady Tigers’ offense too much for Southeastern, 18-0

This one was almost over from the start.
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers wasted little time asserting themselves as they blanked the Southeastern Lady Panthers 18-0 in the Division III sectional tournament on Tuesday.
Ironton collected 15 hits led by Riley Schreck who was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and three runs batted in, Kenzie Cremeens who was 2-3 with two doubles and three RBI, Demi Sands who went 3-4 with two doubles and two RBI, and Mary Beth Burton who was 2-3 with a double.
Adding to the Ironton offense were Rylie Vaughn who was 1-2 with a double and an RBI, Kiandra Martin 1-1 and an RBI, M’Kenzie McMaster 1-2 with a double and two RBI, Peighton Rowe 1-3 and an RBI, and Taiya Hamlet 1-2.
Ironton took charge immediately with a six-run first inning.
Burton and Haylee Stevens walked, Schreck doubled for a run and Cremeens doubled home two runs.
Sands singled home Cremeens, Taiya Hamlet singled and Rowe grounded out to drive in a run. Hamlet scored on a wild pitch.
The lead went to 8-0 in the second on a single by Burton, Schreck’s RBI triple, a walk to Cremeens and Sands’ run-scoring double.
The Lady Tigers got two more runs in the third to lead 10-0.
Hamlet walked, Martin singled, Rylie Vaughn was hit, Burton reached on an error and Schreck singled home another run.
Ironton put the game out of reach with eight runs in the fourth.
Sands doubled, Hamlet walked and Rowe singled. Sands scored on a wild pitch.
McMaster doubled in two runs, Vaughn and Burton each doubled in a run. After a ground out, Burton scored on a wild pitch.
Schreck reached on an error and scored when Cremeens doubled. Sands had an RBI double to cap the scoring.
Burton and Rowe combined on the mound to limit the Panthers to five hits.
Ironton will host Chesapeake at 5 p.m. on Friday.
