HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men’s basketball coach Dan D’Antoni announced the newest addition of JUCO transfer Mikel Beyers (Houston), who will join the Thundering Herd for the 2018-19 season.
“Mikel is a complete player,” D’Antoni said. “He can play one through five and guard anyone. He is a positionless player, so he has the ability to shoot inside and outside. We are excited to see his growth as a player and as a person, while his body catches up with his growth.”
A transfer from Mesa Community College in Mesa, Ariz., will be immediately eligible, with three years remaining with MU.
While with Mesa, Beyers shot 55.9 percent on field goals (76-of-136), 48.3 percent from behind the arc (29-of-60) and made 76.7 percent (23-of-30) of his free throws. The transfer averaged 7.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 9.1 minutes of play.
During his high school days at Dysart High School, Beyers was named the Class 4A Black Canyon Region Player of the Year after he averaged 17.2 points and 11.7 rebounds.
Beyers joins the 2018-19 recruiting class along with guards Taevion Kinsey, Jeremy Dillon, Cameron Brooks-Harris and Ante Sustic.
