ODOT announces upcoming road work

The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring long-term lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system in Lawrence County. • WEDNESDAY, MAY 30: State Route 7 will be subject to a single-lane restriction in the eastbound (north) direction, between the interchange ramps at U.S. 52, for pole installation. The restriction will be in effect for approximately three hours at any time between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

• MAY 29-JUNE 1: State Route 378 will be closed between Township Road 168 (Symmes Creek-Yellow Creek Road) and State Route 141 for a culvert replacement project. The closure will go into effect at approximately 8 a.m. Tuesday, the 29th, and continue until 4 p.m. Friday, June 1. Motorists will be detoured via State Route 141 and State Route 217.

• JUNE 4-8: State Route 243 will be closed just south of County Road 36 (McKinney Creek Road), midway between State Route 7 and State Route 378, for a culvert replacement project. The closure will go into effect at approximately 8 a.m. Monday, June 4, and continue until 4 p.m. Friday, June 8. Motorists will be detoured via State Route 378, State Route 217, State Route 775 and State Route 7.

• MONDAY, JUNE 4: Preliminary operations are under way for a bridge replacement on State Route 217, and the route is scheduled tentatively to be closed the week of June 4. The project site is located between County Road 6 (Deering Bald Knob Road) and County Road 61A (Drift Creek Road), two miles east of State Route 141. Currently, traffic is being maintained by flaggers when crews are at work; however, when the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via County Road 54 (Dog Fork Road), State Route 141 and State Route 378.

Construction is under way for a slide repair project on State Route 217, between the route’s intersections with State Route 378. The route is reduced to one, 10-foot lane, and traffic is being maintained with temporary signals. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall.
U.S. 52 is reduced to one lane through the village of Hanging Rock, between the County Road 23 (Ohio Furnace Road) interchange and Rock Avenue, for a resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction, and variable speed limit will be in effect. The project is scheduled to be completed in late summer.

As part of a districtwide chip-seal project, restrictions will be in effect on State Route 218, between State Route 217 and the Gallia County line, and on State Route 243, between County Road 17 (Rankins Creek Road) and State Route 378 for paving operations. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers, temporary signals and/or arrow boards when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer.
