Ironton LL All-Stars beat Wheelersburg for District 11 title
SOUTH WEBSTER — Gotta love that pitching.
The Ironton Little League 11-12-year-old All-Stars rode the pitching of Braden “Biggie” Schreck and Jonathan Wiley to a pair of wins over the Wheelersburg All-Stars and the District 11 championship.
The ILL beat Wheelersburg 3-0 and 6-1 on Wednesday and earned a berth in the state tournament July 21-28 in North Canton.
Schreck pitched 5.2 innings of one-hit shutout baseball for the win in the first game. He struck out seven and walked three.
Jonathan Wiley got the final out.
Brady Moatz and Ian Ginger each went 2-3 as Ironton racked up nine hits. Wiley, Schreck, Hunter Freeman, Brady Medinger and Drew Brown all had one hit.
Freeman and Medinger had doubles while Schreck, Freeman and Brown all had one run batted in.
In the second game, Wiley worked 4.1 innings to get the win. He struck out eight, walked five, allowed only three hits and the one run was earned.
Connor Kleinman worked the final 1.2 innings for the save. He gave up just one hit, struck out two and walked one.
Ironton had five hits with Wiley, Medinger, Brown, Ginger and Tommy Sheridan all getting one hit.
Medinger and Ginger each had an RBI.
