Top animals fetch more than $1,500 each at auction
ROME TOWNSHIP — The Market Chicken and Fancy Poultry took place at the Lawrence County Fair during pre-fair events on Saturday, July 7.
Analiyah Hardy, of the Dog Fork Haymakers 4-H Club was the grand champion in the market chicken competition. Coming in with reserve was Connor Franklin, of the Scottown Farmers and Farmerettes.
Franklin was also named senior showman, with Isaac Harrison named junior showman.
In the fancy poultry competition, Collin Kerns was grand champion and Daniel Mootz took reserve.
Buyers of the grand champion chicken, which sold for $1,600 at Saturday’s auction, were Dalton’s Towing Service, Jason Stephens, Wesbanco, Silver Star Shell, Rome Township Board of Trustees, Pinkerman’s Excavating and Construction, Stephen’s and Son Insurance and the Committee to Re-Elect Brian Pinkerman Rome Township Trustee.
Buyers of the reserve champion chicken, which sold for $1,500, were Jason Tolliver, Mike Patterson, DeAnna Holliday, and Guy’s Floor Covering.
