A noble citizen effort

Ironton’s streets will be more drivable, thanks to the efforts of some locals.
This weekend, a group, organized by Dawson-Bryant High School teacher Dan Harmon, set out to patch potholes.
Using black top donated by Iron City Hardware, they began on Park Avenue by Rite Aid and worked their way around town.
While city workers diligently try to keep the streets in good shape, Ironton, like many metro areas in our region, is strapped for cash and, sometimes, lack of resources means potholes can be a bigger problem than many would like.
The group hopes to continue their efforts, extending it to repainting lines on the roadway.
We salute Harmon, Iron City owner Jim Hacker,Tim Willis, Sarah Simmons and all who contributed to this effort. They got permission from Mayor Katrina Keith to tackle the problem and donated their time, energy and resources to fixing city streets.
We all live here and a little community spirit goes a long way to making the city brighter for all.
