Many aided shelter by contributing to event

The staff and board members of the Lawrence County Domestic Violence Task Force would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated and contributed to our second annual Lip Sync Battle held on Saturday, July 28.
There is no way we would have been able to pull this great event off without the help of people like Dean Nance, who secured the IHS Auditorium for us; David Ashworth, who organized the music sound tracks; and Will Smith, the sound director and his crew, who patiently worked with each person or group competing in the battle.
We would also like to thank Viviane Vallance, our emcee for the evening, who did a wonderful job hosting the program and our judges, Maria Whaley, Melanie Cornelison Jannota and Shaun Terry.
We were blessed to have Alison Hammond as our stage manager; Rick Payne helped with the choreography and the Paramount Players, who entertained the audience with songs from their latest musical “Legally Blonde.”
The event turned out to be just a wonderful evening of clean-cut entertainment that everyone enjoyed.
We had 10 competitors participating in the battle and the winners were 1st place – Susan Taylor, 2nd place – Mayor Katrina Keith, 3rd place-Sybene – Chesapeake Senior Center, Best Choreography – Lawrence County officials, and People’s Choice – Susan Taylor.
With all of that said and done, we certainly need and value the support of our community. Without that support, we would not be able to provide adequate services and safe shelter for victims of domestic violence in Lawrence County.
You enable us to do what we do and, if you have a desire or need to contribute to a worthy cause, please keep our shelter in mind.
Any donations we receive, no matter how large or small, are greatly needed and appreciated.
All contributions can be sent to the LCDVTF at P. O. Box 311, Ironton, Ohio 45638.
We look forward to seeing you next year for our third annual Lip Sync Battle. God Bless!
Elaine Payne
