Helen Vanderhoof Turner

March 3, 1928 — Aug. 16, 2018

Helen M. Vanderhoof Turner, 90, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Kenucky. The Rock Camp native was born March 3, 1928, a daughter of the late Otto E. and Leona M. Clay Willis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Vanderhoof, whom she married in Coal Grove on March 23, 1946, and he passed away in 1998.
Helen attended school in Ironton and was a former bookkeeper for Buckeye Monument Company, retiring after 25 years in 2004. She was a lifelong member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Marvin Turner, whom she married in Ironton on Jan. 17, 2004, and he passed away in 2006; two sons, Robert M. Vanderhoof and Jeffery L. Vanderhoof; three brothers, Donald Willis, Meredith Willis and Kenneth Willis; a sister, Shirley Willis Spriggs; and a stepson, Roy Turner.
​She is survived by two sons, Ronald L. (Regina) Vanderhoof, of Ironton, and Stephen S. (Kelli) Vanderhoof, of Bellevue, Nebraska; two daughters-in-law, Sue Vanderhoof and Myra Vanderhoof, both of Ironton; three stepsons, Ralph (Allison) Turner, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Keith (Laura) Turner, of Chesapeake, and Phillip (Marcia) Turner, of Jonesborough, Tennessee; three brothers, Harlan Willis, of Ironton, Larry Willis, of Bartow, Florida, and Gary (Patti) Willis, of Chesapeake; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Deron Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church.
