SV girls split games

WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings first week of the volleyball season was a split decision.
The Lady Vikings opened with a four-set victory of the South Gallia Lady Rebels but dropped a game in four sets to the Chesapeake Lady Panthers.
In the season opener on Monday, the Lady Vikings lost the first set 25-2 before running off wins of 25-22, 25-11 and 25-21.
Morgan Jenkins had 15 serving points including nine aces. Alison Klaiber scored 13 points and Payton Hunter nine.
Ellie Johnson led with seven kills. Jenkins had six while Klaiber and Payton got four each.
Defensively, Ericca Ross had nine assists while Rachael Hayes got 18 digs, Hunter 16 and Jenkins 12.
On Wednesday, Chesapeake won 25-15, 19-25, 25-16, 25-16.
Klaiber led the way with 10 serving points and also had eight kills.
Hunter got six kills, Ross posted 13 assists while Emily McCleese had 16 digs and Hayes 12.
The Lady Vikings host Coal Grove on Monday.
