Recognized for continued quality improvements

The Ironton Lawrence County Area Community Action Family Medical Centers (FMC) were awarded more than $124,000 in grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) on Aug. 15, in recognition of the organization’s continued quality improvement efforts.

HRSA, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, granted a total of $125 million in Quality Improvement Awards to 1,352 community health centers in the U.S.

The awards recognize the highest performing health centers in the nation, as well as those who have made significant strides in quality improvement since the previous year.

“We are more than pleased to receive this award,” Gary Roberts, director of operations for the Family Medical Centers, said. “It is a direct recognition of the hard work and concentrated efforts that our staff does on an ongoing basis to ensure that our centers provide quality service to members of our community.”

The ILCAO Family Medical Centers has an active Quality Improvement Committee that meets on a monthly basis to discuss patient concerns, available training opportunities, updates in the world of medicine that can bring improvements to the organization’s scope of services, and other issues that affect the overall quality of services and programs.

The HRSA grant, totaling $124,418 was awarded in recognition of Electronic Health Record Reporters; Clinical Quality Improvers; being Health Center Quality Leaders; Advancing Health Information Technology; and Achieving PCMH Recognition.

According to Roberts, the funding will be used to enhance and strengthen FMC programs in order to continue to improve the quality of the organization’s mission to measurably improve the well-being of area citizens.
