Charlotte Moore

Nov. 21, 1952 — Sept. 1, 2018

Charlotte Moore, 65, of Proctorville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at her residence. The Kitts Hill native was born Nov. 21, 1952, the daughter of the late William and Ruth Marie Dement.
Charlotte attended Dawson-Bryant schools, and was a cook for Kiwannis Day Care, where she retired in 2015, after 16 years of service. She was also a member of Rockwood Baptist Church in Chesapeake.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Dement and Richard Dement; a sister, Barbara Moore; grandparents, Albert and Othella Dement and Zeke and Pearl Clement; and great-granddaughter, Kailee Spaulding.
She is survived by a son, Brian (Amy) Moore; two daughters, Kristi (Douglas) Stambaugh and Shana (Chuck) Michael; two sisters, Gail (Jerrell) Owens and Betsy (Paul) West; three brothers, Bob (Kathy) Dement, Larry (Charlene) Dement and Fred (Angela) Dement; her stepchildren, Paul (Rosanne) Moore, Angele Moore Lemaster and Teana Moore Kisker; two stepsisters, Connie (Steve) Strunk and Sue Baker; grandchildren, Jesse Spaulding, Amanda Spaulding, Jordan Michael, Allison Michael, Levi Moore, Ayden Moore, Alaina Moore and Ava Moore; three great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Spaulding, Ella Spaulding and Paislie Spaulding; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Duane Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Myrtle Ridge Cemetery. Myrtle Matney

Dec. 7, 1926 — Sept. 2, 2018

Myrtle Lucille Matney, 91, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia. She was born Dec. 7, 1926, the daughter of the late Albert Willis and Grace Keeney Willis.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Willard Matney Jr.; and sisters, Gertrude Boothe, Lillian Hastings and Mayme Hannon.
Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Don and Karen Matney Simmons; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Annette Matney; two grandchildren, Kelli (Mark) Evans and Bradley (Paige) Matney; and a great-granddaughter, Jayci Matney. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Janice Sharp; a special friend, Mary Patterson; and nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Chesapeake High School. She retired from Ashland Oil. She was a devoted member of Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church and loved her church.
Graveside rites will be conducted by Brother Ed Jenkins, a family member at Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Cemetery. The procession to the cemetery will begin at 12:30 p.m. at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home, Ironton. Family and friends will be received at noon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702-1235, who took wonderful care of her. Ross Fulks

Ross C. Fulks, 81, of Gallipolis, formerly of Crown City, passed away on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at the Abbyshire Place in Gallipolis. He was the son of the late N.D. and Sylvia Lewis Fulks. He was married to Doris E. Caldwell Fulks, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 2012.
Ross was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Guyan Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Ohio Valley Masonic Lodge #536 in Crown City, and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his daughter, Amy (Todd) Sibley, of Gallipolis; grandchildren, Sommer Fulks, Luke Fulks, Mick Sibley, Tessa (Keith) Roberts, Alicia (Chad) Rhodes, Bernie Fulks and Niki Kazee; great-grandchildren, C.J., Dalton, Abby, Kennedi, Addison, Alexa, Dusty, Conner, Mackynlee, Carter and Kaia; and three brothers, J.E. (Edie) Fulks, of Clearwater, Florida, Dan D. (Rena) Fulks, of Chesapeake, and Frank D. (Beverly) Fulks, of Scottown.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Doris E. Fulks; a daughter, Alison Daniels; a son, Allen Fulks; a grandson, Dustin Halley; a sister, Norma Johnson; and five brothers, Charles E. Fulks, Glenn O. Fulks, Claude V. Fulks, Joe B. Fulks and Leland K. Fulks.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Willis Funeral Home, Gallipolis. Burial will follow at Perkins Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. There will be a flag presentation at the graveside conducted by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
