SOUTH POINT — One look at the score told the story.
In an outstanding defensive battle, the South Point Pointers battled the unbeaten Minford Falcons to a scoreless tie in a soccer game on Thursday.
“Our defense stepped up big tonight,” said Pointers’ coach Zane Joy. “Minford had more possession but we executed our game plan and had five great shots on goal that were very close to going in.”
Goalkeeper Jaylon Halfhill had 12 saves for South Point (2-1-2). Luke Montavon had seven saves for Minford (4-0-2).
South Points hosts Gallipolis on Tuesday. The girls’ game is at 5:30 and the boys play at 7:30.
