Charles E. Payne, 78, of South Point, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He was born Oct. 18, 1939, in Kitts Hill, a son of the late Charles W. and Eva Humphrey Payne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma McCann Payne; and a sister, Belinda Gabbbert Richardson.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, owner and operator of Char-Cal Inc., and attended Solida Baptist Church.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Kim (Howard) Curtis, of South Point; his son, Rick (Pam) Payne, of South Point; a sister, Hilda Friend, of Pedro; a brother, Calvin (Betty) Payne, of Pedro; three grandchildren, Crystal Curtis, Tyler Payne and Tara Morrison; one great-grandchild, Abby Morrison; several nieces and nephews; and his buddy, Tiki.
Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with pastor Aaron Childers officiating.
