Taylor Jenkins

Jan. 9, 1993 — Sept. 20, 2018

Taylor Jenkins, 25, of Ironton, passed away at his residence on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018.
The Lawrence County native was born Jan. 9, 1993, and is survived by his father, Timothy K. Jenkins, of South Point, and mother, Cassandra Carter of Canton.
Taylor was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Taylor and Barbara Jenkins, of Ironton; and his maternal grandparents, James and Martha Rice, of Ashville. Also preceding his demise are his little infant nephews, Alexander and Ethan Utsinger, and his niece, Avery Utsinger, who were triplets.
Taylor was a student at Rock Hill High School and has attended the Hanging Rock Apostolic Church of God. He loved his family and especially loved family reunions.
In addition to his parents, Taylor is survived by his long-time companion and mother of his children, Brandy Sprouse; two sons, Carter Jenkins, age 6, and Cole Jenkins, age 5; two daughters, Rylie Jenkins, age 3, and Marley Jenkins, age 2, all of Ironton; one brother, Joshua (Brooke) Jenkins, of Ironton; and three sisters, Crystal (Ronnie) Easterling, of Ashland; Heather (Jimmy) Meyers and Kara (Jason) Perkins, both of Ironton; and Vickie Mullens and Angela Jessie, who raised him. There were also numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are David Large, Seth Large, Anthony Large, Nicholas Goody, Joseph Mullens, Ronnie Easterling and Wyatt Mullens.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 1 pm at the Hanging Rock Cemetery in Hanging Rock, with the burial to follow. There will be no visitation. Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street in Ironton is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Kay Griswold

Dec. 15, 1933 — Sept. 18, 2018

Kay D. Griswold, 84, of Ironton, passed away at home on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018.
She was born in Lawrence County on Dec. 15, 1933, a daughter of the late Roy Markin and Lillian Hammonds.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon Murphy and LaVay Nunley, and one brother, Glen Markin.
Kay is survived by her daughter, Kim Griswold, of South Point; three brothers, Jerry (Betty) Sweeney, of Leesburg, Florida, Mike (Bonnie) Sweeney, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Bill Sweeney, of Ironton; many nieces and nephews and her four legged friends, Molly, Dooley and Sparky.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Donations can be made to Community Hospice in Ashland, Kentucky. Condolences may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
