Wilma Barbour

Aug. 22, 1927 — Sept. 27, 2018

Wilma “Billie” Jean (Chaney) Barbour, of Wheelersburg, went “home” on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018. Shortly before her departure from SOMC, room 3821, her favorite song by Chris Tomlin, “Going Home” was playing.
Born Aug. 22, 1927, to Geoffrey and Gladys (Mayo) Chaney, “Billie” is survived by her brother, George “Clif” Chaney; her children, daughter, Rebecca Derifield, and son-in-law, Don, of Franklin Furnace; their two children and six grandchildren; son, Jeff, and daughter-in-law, Linda; and their two children and three grandchildren.
A daughter, Cindy Jean, died shortly after birth. Wilma was also preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Barbour; two brothers, June and Gary Chaney; and a sister, Elwanda.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at D.W. Swick-Nelson Funeral Home, Wheelersburg, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Online condolences may be shared at www.dwswicknelsonfuneralhome.com.

 

Tanna Adkins

Aug. 1, 1957 — Sept. 28, 2018

Tanna Lynne Adkins, 61, of South Point, went to be with Jesus Friday, Sept. 28 2018, at her home. She was born Aug. 1, 1957, in Huntington, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Wanda and Charles Barry.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Barry Adkins Sr.; a sister, Lisa “Missy” Lowery; and a father and mother-in-law, Kimball and Margaret Adkins.
Survivors include three children, Heather Dawn Adkins, Barry (Keisha) Adkins Jr. and Aaron Adkins Sr. (Carmen Lafon); one sister, Kelly Eldred; three brothers, Charles “Chuck” (Anita) Barry, Timmy (Pam) Barry and David (Chris) Barry; and seven grandchildren, Aaron “Littleman” Adkins Jr., Kaydence O’Neal, Barry Adkins III (Little B), Parker Adkins, Braylen Brown, Hayden Adkins and Braxton Adkins.
In addition, she personally requested to acknowledge four special friends she met throughout her life, Tammy Jones, Angie Winters, Hazel McDonald and Renee Fox.
In her final years, Tanna enjoyed Bible study with her family. She was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Tanna was also a former manager at McDonald’s in Chesapeake.
Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Sam Vance Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Gladys Woodburn

June 5, 1932 — Sept. 28, 2018

Gladys F. Woodburn, 86, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility, Ashland, Kentucky. She was born in South Point on June 5, 1932, to the late Dewey and Cora Finley. Gladys is survived by her husband of 69 years, Edward L. Woodburn.
Gladys attended South Point schools and loved spending time with family, shopping and playing piano. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Ironton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Finley, Howard Finley, and her twin brother, Glen Finley; and one sister, Thelma (Jean) Pemberton.
In addition to her husband, Gladys is survived by two daughters, Glenda (David) Hamlin, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Teresa (Mark) Lewis, of Ironton; four grandchildren, Melissa (Tony) Ritenour, of Temecula, California, Matthew (April) Hamlin, of Milan, Alison Lewis, of Ironton, and Seth (Emily) Lewis, of Phoenix, Arizona; and eight great-grandchildren, Titus Lewis, Olivia, Alexis and Zeke Ritenour, and Devin, Andrew, Shannon and Miley Hamlin.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service today at the funeral home.
