Ronald Roach Sr.

Jan. 27, 1979 — Oct. 28, 2018

Ronald Roach Sr., 57, of Coal Grove, passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. The Coal Grove resident was born Jan. 27, 1961, the son of Lillian Delores Richardson Roach, of Coal Grove, and the late Richard Lee Roach Sr. He is also survived by his wife, Rita Lou Roach.
Ronald was a 1979 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a former welder and pipefitter with Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #577 out of Portsmouth for 25-plus years. He was an amazing man who loved his family, friends, Jesus and was of the Miller Lite faith.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jody Lynn Sherman Roach.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by a daughter, Dixie Leah Roach, of Coal Grove; a son, Ronald Edward Roach Jr., of Coal Grove; stepson, Justin Matthew Roach, of Kyoto, Japan; sister, Dixie (Henry) Douglas, of Coal Grove; brother, Richard (Mary) Roach, of South Webster; many nieces and nephews; and numerous special friends.
A Celebration of Life will be 5 p.m. Saturday at the Roach residence. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.

 

David Derifield

March 13, 1937 — Oct. 26, 2018

David Ray Derifield, 81, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at his home. He was born March 13, 1937, to the late Charles and Mary Kitchen Derifield.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Reaper Waller Derifield; as well as brothers, Dewey Derifield, Charles Derifield Jr., Chester Derifield and Ronnie Derifield; and sisters, Mable Kuntz, Beatrice Stuckey, Gladys Hunter and Evaline Dails.
He was a National Guardsman. He was a good Christian man who attended Kelley’s Bridge Independent Church.
He is survived by his son, Mike D. (Cindy) Derifield, of Parkman; his daughter, Diana Lynn Lewis, of Ironton; grandchildren, Mika Derifield, Jason (Dani) Owens and Allie Lewis; great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Kennedi; brother, James Derifield, of Ashland, Kentucky; and a host of good friends, Don Dalawder, Terry Summers and Georgianna Bare Rockwell.
Family will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton, and graveside services will be at noon Wednesday at Ice Creek Cemetery with Roger Friend officiating.
